What is motivation?

Your goal may be to lose weight, or join an exercise class, but without the internal drive to work towards that goal you are unlikely to reach it. Motivation is what causes you to take action towards your goals. Lacking motivation, lacking the desire to take the necessary steps to achieve your goal can lead to frustration, low self-esteem and negative self-talk. These in turn can prevent you from moving forward and a self-perpetuating cycle is established.
